|Artist's Studio Renovation
Renovation of an existing 1920's garage, including the addition of 80 square feet plus a loft space. The studio also features a planted roof (on a 6:12 pitch roof) which has grown in with sedums and other stonecrops. The plants and soil better insulate the structure, as well as reduce impervious surfaces on site which in turn minimizes water pollution.
The foundation and slab utilize concrete with nearly 50% recycled fly ash content. This mix has a longer curing period than conventional concrete but is actually significantly stronger than a conventional mix.
